The CYCLO90 Challenge! Why You? CYCLO90 Lesson #2 and #3: “Getting Your Ass Kicked” and Then “Do Cycling Yes”…

CYCLO90 Lesson #1: Show Me “Sand Floor”

By CycloCORE On January 27, 2012 · 1 Comment · In TRAINING TIPS

When I was about 7, my parents got me interested in taking Martial Arts with a friend of mine.  Eight Years later, I was the youngest student in my dojo to achieve a Black Belt.

It’s funny, at the time and at that age–every class, every drill, combination, block, competition felt REPETITIVE.  It felt like “memorization” of a few patters–over, and over and over again.  I remember whining and complaining to my mom every night, “why do I have to keep going to class?  We’re just gonna go over the same patterns we did last week.”

Then, around that time the movie Karate Kid came out and I got a GLIMPSE of what all this was for…

WATCH, “Show Me Sand Floor!”

Looking back now, as an adult–I can FINALLY SEE what all those “repetitive fundamental patterns” were all about.  I can FINALLY FEEL the “big picture” and “spine tingling MOMENTS” that effortlessly combine together, automatically.

Ironic enough, this is the EXACT SAME pattern I have been creating with my Cyclo-CORE and now my CYCLO90 programs over the years.  The same exact lessons and teaching methods I’ve been trying to share with YOU…

A set of Fundamental Cycling Patterns, Drills, Combinations, and Focused Efforts–seamed together at precise moments in time for “BEAUTIFULLY BRILLIANT EXECUTION.”

(That moment when your SPINE TINGLES during or after a ride.  That moment when you KNOW you’ve changed as a rider–regardless of how many miles you’ve done.)

It’s funny when I speak with customers using the program and they say, “I can’t believe how smooth, strong and fast I was this past weekend on my group ride.  It was like my body just ‘clicked’ and everything you had me doing, during the week just  fell into place at the same time and felt EASY.”

Just like Daniel in the scene above.  “Automatic Execution” through pattern building.  HE WASN’T THINKING ANYMORE!

OK…

So why am I sharing lessons like this and 80′s movies with you?

Well, as you know my CYCLO90 Challenge is kicking off and I am reviewing VIDEOS from everyday cyclists (maybe you) for new STUDENTS and REPRESENTATIVES to help me, help more cyclists.

I have had so many submits in already and more coming (yah, send me your video on facebook or POST BELOW) that I need to take the weekend to REALLY look through each submission and more importantly, how to take those “journey’s” and BLOW THEM UP to spark more cyclists to JOIN IN and have the same “spine tingling”.

I’m not interested in who does the most miles or climbs the most altitude or who has the highest wattage.

I care about capturing the HEART and SOUL of the ride(er).  To witness, experience, touch or taste it so others can DO THE SAME THING.

Think about that over the weekend.

Think about how it feels to get the “spine tingling” or “sand the floor” like experience.

You tell me–isn’t that what cycling is all about?

I WANT IT!

Come back this weekend for CYCLO90 Lesson #2:  “The Need to Get Your ASS-KICKED!”

Please share this TIP or VIDEO with your riding buddies...

What perfect timing thAt you put this lesson#1 out. Today when l was doing the R#6, the standing drill, l was trying to remember what it was l should do hip wise. Then after a few reps it came to me about using my hips. That tip you had given on some other spin or HIT that l had done. Your repeating the same fundamental things are now becoming almost automatic. My feeling is that the more l hear it the more likey l will use it and remember it.
    Thanks
